This project launched at Whisky Live! at the S.E.C.C. in Glasgow on Friday, 31st October, 2008 at 3.00 p.m. Members of whiskytrailbars.com poured samples of the winning entries in the Whisky Magazine Independent Bottlers' Challenge. It was voted the Most Popular Stand at the exhibition because of the variety of whiskies offered and, especially, because of the knowledge and enthusiasm of the members of whiskytrailbars.com for the product.

Congratulations
to Jon & Dick Beach of Fiddler's; last night they won the
Old Pulteney sponsored Scottish Licensed Trade News Malt Whisky Bar of the Year Award
for the third successive year. A magnificent achievement!
But, they were
VERY
closely followed by the runners up, both members of whiskytrailbars.com,
WHISKI
in Edinburgh and
THE BON ACCORD
in Glasgow.
Well done to all three.
The Loch Ness Whisky Parliament
raised £1500 on the night thanks to The Members of The Loch Ness Whisky Parliament (MWPs), members of the local RNLI crew and suppliers of Fiddler's Bar and Restaurant in Drumnadrochit.
The purpose of the night was to raise funds for the RNLI who have a rescue boat and crew based in Drumnadrochit. Members of the Loch Ness Whisky Parliament were invited along with members of the local RNLI crew. At £20 a ticket, the tasting alone raised £620.
After some important LNWP business and the presentation of a cheque to the charity Help for Heroes from Fiddler's last fund-raising event, Martin Douglas the local RNLI Press Officer was introduced.
Martin gave a brief run-down of the Loch Ness RNLI Crew's job and the importance of this kind of fund-raising.
After Martin’s talk was finished, Georgie Crawford of Talisker Distillery launched herself into a full-scale run-down of the night's whiskies, starting with the 10 Year Old, followed by the new Cask-strength 57 North, the Distiller’s Edition, the 18 Year Old and finishing with the 2008 Release of the 25 Year Old. Talisker New Make was also sampled along with the 2005 Release of the 25 Year Old. All whiskies went down well with the general consensus being that the 18 Year old was the Star of the Night.
The winner of the Big Talisker Quiz was won by the MWP for Cragganmore after a “Taste Off”
where four people with the correct answers had to identify the mystery Talisker.
Congratulations
to Anne Anderson of The Anderson in Fortrose. In the Scottish Chef of the Year Awards 2009, she won a Bronze Award in the Scottish Gastro Pub of the Year category and
ALSO
another Bronze Award in the Gourmet Menu of the Year category! Well done Anne!
WHISKI DRAMMING IN AID OF THE SICK KIDS
LAST NIGHT, Thursday 14th May 2009 saw
WHISKI
bar in Edinburgh’s Royal Mile auction off a bottle of the Famous Grouse 37 Year Old in aid of the Sick Kids Foundation in Edinburgh. £340 was raised from the sale held at a whisky tasting in the bar that saw 22 people try out a range of Edrington whiskies including the Black Grouse, Highland Park and the Macallan. The whisky tasting was part of a range of events organized by
WHISKI
bar to celebrate Homecoming Scotland and in particular May’s Whisky Month.
“We had a great evening, everyone enjoyed themselves and I am delighted to have raised £340 for the Sick Kids which is a very worthy local cause,” said Whiski bar's owner, Gary Still.
THE ST. ANDREWS BAR RAISES FUNDS ON ST. ANDREW'S DAY FOR THE ST. ANDREWS HOSPICE
The St. Andrews Bar in Coatbridge, with great assistance from Des Hughes from Burn Stewart Distillers, ran 3 Whisky Tasting Evenings on Sunday 15th, Sunday 22nd and St. Andrew's Night, Monday 30th November, 2009 with proceeds going to Coatbridge's St. Andrews Hospice.
Over the three nights, this intimate venue raised in excess of £700.00 (the funds are still coming in) for the Hospice. The bar's regulars gained knowledge and tasting insight as well.
Des put together three tastings covering the whole country and many distillers' and bottlers' products. From Balblair to Auchentoshan, from Tobermory to Talisker, the whiskies covered the highways and by-ways of Scotland's various whisky trails. Also included amongst the 2 dozen whiskies tasted were blends such as Scottish Leader and Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

The St. Andrews Bar
in Coatbridge hosted a very successful tasting last Sunday afternoon.
The great Willie Tait, ex of Isle of Jura and now Brand Ambassador for the Whyte & Mackay group's malts, delivered a selection of Jura, Dalmore and Whyte & Mackay 13 Years Old for an appreciative audience.
The venue is VERY small, so watch this space closely for future events.
