"Tastefully decorated in a modern manner that still recognises traditional Highland culture, the Lismore is a relaxed and laid-back bar. The whisky selection is excellent and the malt of the month is always a bargain. Live Scottish and Gaelic music is played on Tuesday and Thursday nights." So said no less an organ than The New Tork Times - not quite Partick's local paper! The Lismore is an institution; involved in its local community and a mainstay of Glasgow's annual West End Festival. Winner of the Scottish Licensed Trade News "Whisky Bar of the Year" in 2005, the decor includes especially commissioned stained glass depicting scenes from the Highland Clearances, a reference to the ancestors of many of the Lismore's regulars who were highlanders driven off the land and into the city in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. There are also art works from several artists whom you almost expect to be standing at the bar when you walk in, it's that kind of place. Just so that you know which side of the fence you are standing on, the pub's urinals have the names of highland landlords inscribed on them.

Situated in the bohemian Partick district of Glasgow, the bar's clientele is an eclectic mix. Partick is at the foot of Byres Road, Glasgow's west end, an area famous for food and fashion. The Lismore's interaction with it's community sees its active involvement in the area's annual West End Festival and other neighbourhood events.
