Drumchork Lodge is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Close by is Inverewe Gardens, where Osgood MacKenzie introduced plants from the world's temperate regions and demonstrated that the area's unique microclimate, warmed by the North Atlantic Drift, can produce good crops from exotic plants, despite its northerly latitude.

The hotel is owned by Frances Oates and John Clotworthy who have achieved numerous awards for the hotel and, in 2004, were granted a distiller's license, the first private distiller's license in 190 years. They are now the only hotel in the world where whisky lovers can make 5 litres of their own spirit and take it home with them to mature. Drumchork's still is small, producing a light and fruity spirit.
Weekend distilling breaks can be arranged, alongside the daily tastings.
